How about some odf?

And this last days i have been working on some mocks and other random stuf, all exyting stuf i assure you ;).
I also have some perliminary versions of mime types for ODF Stlill neads some work i know :). But tell-me what you think in the frist place they are a bit off the general oxygen mime types, but it does IMO integrate well the odf logo, so im unsure.

I love it!

Though I love everything Oxygen-related.. soooo is this the anxiety for new stuff or something else? Still I like it =)

I very much liked them myself, too!

Quite impressive, as always!

Keep up the good, inspiring, hard work!

what do the circles on the top left represent?

Men! These icons are so beautifull! Keep going on Nuno! Oxygen is going to kick-ass!

Really nice looking, could maybe be a bit more colorful. The one's that I can immediately guess what they represent are (from left to right):

1) Drawing
2) Blank document (?)
3) Chart (?)
4) Database
5) Presentation
6) Text
7) Formula
8) ?
9) ?

One idea; Could the OpenDocument Text icon maybe have a pencil? I think it would make it more clear, as it is now it has a bit of a "unknown" feel to it.

Great work!

Aron Stansvik

Sorry, the last one is obviously Spreadsheet, don't know what I was thinking :)

I also love your work.

Some thought : I quite agree with Aron Stansvik, that not all icons are easily recognized. This is what I found at the first glance (from left to right) :

1) Text (it does represent a pencil ??)
2) Blank document (?)
3) Chart (?)
4) Database
5) Presentation
6) ?
7) Formula
8) ?
9) ?

Is there an icon for master documents ? The spreadsheet one is not so obvious.

you guys rule!
you managed to get them al :)

1 circle thing is the odf logo (i thought of using it has a kinda stamp)

2 yes the second one is the blank document (mostly a work basis)

3 yes the number 3 is a chart (maybe i need to make a chart line)

4 the text is more than that pencil is more associated with plain txt, this is has you guys know more than that. (maybe stuill neads some work to separate the test an image bit's a bit more

5 8 is image not working i know :)

6 9 is spreadsheet ...... work needed obviusly.

Why didn't you just use the icons in Ubuntu's Human Icon theme?

Great work!

Looks nice. But I fear that by going over the edge with the odf logo a lot of screen estate is wasted, both horizontally and vertically. I would like it more if the paper would be as big as possible, because it hints at the basic property of the files and should be easily recognizable also in small sizes. Or is this no good idea? How do these symbols look next to other document type symbols?

Happy birthday, and great work!

Quite a nice start, except for the following:

- too fuzzy, not clearly enough outlined
- too much gray (shade and around the icons)

I would rather go for better oxygen integration, as they will live side by side later with other file types so they should look integrated and not stick out because of a different look.
As long as they are recognized as odf office files there's no need to stick too much to the logo look. Imho an icon style should keep them recognizable but give them an individual/special touch, that's what the style is for.

Nuno, I second elvis' comments. Could you try to use colour to make it easier to distinguish between spreadsheets and word-processed documents at a glance?

If you have say 10 spreadsheets and 10 letters in a folder it would be easier to differentiate between them if there are colour cues.

Using the OpenDocument icon is an interesting idea, but it does use up a lot of space.

Anyhow - keep up the good work :)

I had a look again and want to add:

- colors too much toned down, not vibrant/colorful enough

(this goes hand in hand with too much of gray)

great work but too much gray

Too much gray IMHO.
Ease to recognize if you are well instructed and educated person but definitely not that much if you got no clue at all.

You must pay more attention in that kind of issue if you want to reach *every* user in any part of the planet.

That's now a reality: KDE is being used in many part of the globe , even in places that there is actually no energy lines. Definitely not easy, thought.

I quite like them but would prefer a smaller 'fold' and a picture which doesn't go near the fold. Also some more vibrant colours wouldn't go a miss its very desaturated looks like its tending towards grey.
